LAHORE - A 27-year-old cable operator, the only brother of three sisters, was shot dead over the issue of cable rent in Misri Shah Area, the Police said on Monday. The deceased later was identified as Mohammad Khurram, resident of Usman Ganj. The Police investigators said the deceased sent his worker to receive monthly rent from one Hafiz Naveed, resident of the same locality, on Sunday night at about 9:00 pm. According to police, instead of paying rent, the accused issued life threats to the worker and forced him to go back. Afterwards Khurram visited the site and demanded rent but the accused along with his brother Shahbaz and uncle quarrelled with Khurram and later opened fire on him. The Police investigators maintained that Khurram sustained a bullet injury and was rushed to Mayo Hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. PS Misri Shah SHO Mustaneer Ahmad Khan said the accused also scuffled with the deceased a day before over the same issue. He said the locals, however, made compromise between them on that day. But he was gunned down late on Sunday night and succumbed to injury on the night between Sunday and Monday. The police has registered a murder case against the accused on the statement of maternal uncle of the deceased with no arrest till filing of this report. Police have been raiding the houses of the accused but to no avail as they already have managed to escape from their houses.
