LAHORE - The newly appointed Punjab Governor on Sunday said that dispensation of speedy justice to the people remained a real challenge for the Government.

“An ideal society is one where justice is prevalent, the pleas of the innocent are heard and fair and impartial practices are common”, he remarked while talking to a lawyers’ delegation from Multan which called on him led by Muhammad Ali Gilani.

As he acknowledged the fact that speedy justice was a real challenge, the governor said: “We all must join hands to resolve this issue”. He also affirmed that justice should not be delayed to the common man and lawyers could play a supportive role to achieve the desired results.

Rajwana viewed that lawyers’ community had always played a lead role in the continuation for the democratic system as it had repeatedly raised its voice against dictatorial and undemocratic forces.

“PML-N and the lawyers share a common vision when it comes to the protection of constitution, freedom of courts, and the uplifting of democracy. An exemplary precedent set by Muslim League (N) and its leadership is that they have appointed an ordinary party worker, belonging to the lawyer community, to one of the most prestigious positions of the country”, he observed.

Appreciating the efforts of lawyers in strengthening the constitution, the governor suggested that the Bar Associations should work together with the government to have an effective democratic system. Moreover, their collaborations would bring relief for the masses waiting for immediate and active reforms in the justice system, he added.

The governor assured the lawyers that present government would take measures for the welfare and betterment of lawyers. He promised that he would soon be paying visits to different bar associations to have first-hand account of the problems facing the lawyers’ community.
