Islamabad - No doubt local body elections are the foundation of democracy but bifurcation of the existing structure of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) will not be allowed in any case.

This was said by the CDA Mazdoor Union in a press release issued here on Sunday. It feared that CDA employees would face issues after imposition of local government’s setup in Islamabad. “We have legal ways to continue with our protest at all forums to protect the rights of CDA workers who have performed day and night for the development and maintenance of beautiful Islamabad. While bringing this bill before the Parliament, the issues of the workers of the CDA have been ignored,” it said.

The union suggested that the representatives likely to be elected through local body elections will be made part of the CDA Board.
