Rawalpindi - The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) held Force Commander Conference here at its headquarters on Monday.

The conference was chaired by Director General ANF Major General Khawar Hanif and was attended by commanders of all regional directorates and senior staff officers. At the onset of conference, review of the ANF performance was analysed and futuristic targets were set. During the conference, aspects of enforcement, intelligence, assets investigation, prosecution, and other financial/ administrative matters were discussed.

Meanwhile, ANF conducted seven countrywide operations at Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Mianwali, Peshawar, Karachi and Qilla Saif Ullah, recovered 303.47-kg heroin, 305-kg hashish and 1-kg crystal meth (methamphetamine).

During operations, ANF rounded up 7 drug traffickers / smugglers and seized 6 vehicles. The value of recovered drugs amounts approximately Rs 2,326 million in international market, the ANF spokesman informed.

ANF Rawalpindi in pursuance of information arrested a drug trafficker Waqar Azam and local recipient Muahmmad Waseem on Benazir Bhutto Road and recovered 2.2-kg hashish and seized of a car and a motorcycle.

ANF Rawalpindi airport team intercepted a passenger Muhammad Rasheed of Sheikhupura at Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport and recovered 1-kg crystal meth (methamphetamine) tactfully concealed in his bag. The accused intended to board for Riyadh by PIA flight number PK-753.

The ANF Peshawar conducted an operation near Sarband Road, Peshawar, and seized 273-kg hashish concealed at a place beside a nullah. The ANF Lahore intercepted a car (RE-776) near Sargodha Morr, MM Road Mianwali, and recovered 3-kg heroin concealed inside the car. A drug trafficker Hayat Khan was apprehended at the spot. After initial investigation, on the pointation of the accused, a drug recipient Aurangzeb Khan r/o Mianwali was also arrested along with 2-kg heroin.

Separate cases have been registered against all the detainees with ANF police station while further investigation was under way, the spokesman added.
