Islamabad - President Mamnoon Hussain has emphasised that Muslim Ummah should work in unison by undertaking concerted initiatives for advancing universal modern science and technical education in their respective countries for human resource development and to excel in the affairs of the world.

The president stated that the Muslim countries are endowed with rich natural resources which can be best utilised by a skilled human force to the benefits of the people of Muslim countries.

The president said this during a lunch hosted by International Islamic University (IIU) in the honour of ambassadors of Islamic countries in Pakistan on Monday at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The president appreciated the educational contributions of IIU in advancing the Ummah’s ideological, moral, intellectual and economic development in accordance with the values and norms of Islam.

The president also lauded the role of the university in imparting quality education not only in the varied Islamic subjects but also in the modern disciplines.

Baleegh-ur-Rehman, minister of state for federal education and professional training, ambassadors of Islamic countries, members of the board of trustees and board of governors, International Islamic University, and senior officials of president secretariat were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Ambassador of Greece in Pakistan Petros Mavroidis on Monday paid a farewell call on the President Mamnoon Hussain at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

Highlighting the existence of long-term bilateral ties between the two countries, the president said that Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Greece which were based on mutual trust and goodwill.

The president appreciated the long-term partnership of Pakistan with Greece in economic, trade and commercial relations.

The president said that Pakistan desired to further strengthen its partnership with Greece in diverse areas to the mutual benefit of the people of both countries. The president noted that the both countries have extended support to each other at various international forums and expressed commitment for furthering mutual cooperation in diverse fields.

The president emphasised that both countries should continue exploring mutual avenues for future cooperation for further enhancing the existing volume of bilateral trade noting that the existing bilateral trade, i.e. US $90 million, was far below the potential. The president stated that the Greek investors could take advantage of investor friendly policies of Pakistan by investing in various sectors of economy especially in the agriculture and energy sectors.He commended the ambassadorial services of Petros Mavroidis for promoting bilateral relations during his stay since October 2007 as ambassador in Pakistan. He wished the outgoing ambassador good health, happiness and success in his future life and assignments.

Outgoing Ambassador thanked the president and the government of Pakistan for the support he was extended during his tenure as ambassador.
