Taking against alleged corruption, malpractices and irregularities in SNGPL Sargodha Region office, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ordered transfers eight SNGPL staffers including the Regional Manager on the complaint of MNA Dr Zulfiquar Ali Bhatti.

MNA Bhatti had complained to the Premier about the rampant malpractices, corruption and anomalies in the SNGPL Regional Office while citing hundreds of public complaints about multifarious problems regarding different matter of the Sui gas office. Moreover, old system of manual meter reading card has been practice at the SNGPL regional despite the presence of modern computerized system just to provide “illicit benefits” to the industrialists and CNG sector, causing loss of billions of rupees to the national exchequer.

Following directives from the Prime Minister Secretariat, the SNGPL MD transferred Regional Manager Ashraf Mehmood to SNGPL Meter Testing Laboratory Kot Lakhpat Lahore and Mohammad Haroon Khan has been appointed at Regional Manager Sargodha. Similarly, Admin Officer Sabir Khan has been transferred to Wah Cantt, Billing Officer Qasim Iqbal to Faisalabad, Tariq Ameer to Gujrat, Engineer Usman Habib to Sahiwal, Engineer Gul Mohammad to Gujranwala, Meter Tesing officer Iqbal Gill to Sahiwal and driver Noor Mohammad to Sui Balochistan.

According to sources, an inquiry was also carried out through SNGPL MD Arif Hameed into the alleged allegations of overbilling, illegal connections, gas theft and others.
