State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed said that maintenance of law and order was the top priority of the government.  

He said that no effort would be spared for the protection of life and property of citizens. He said that the government would continue to provide resources for the maintenance of peace.

He expressed these views while chairing a meeting held to review the law and order situation in the district.

MNA Malik Aetbar Khan, DCO Chaudhry Habibullah, DPO Israr Ahmad Abbasi and officers concerned attended the meeting.

The State Minister said that peace was essential for rapid development and promotion of economic activities therefore all-out efforts should be made for the maintenance of law and order.

He said that police should perform its duties devotedly and efficiently for the protection of life and property of the people. He directed that close coordination should be maintained with Ulema and Mashaikh of all schools of thought.

The Minister directed that mutual coordination between police and law enforcement agencies should be further improved. He said that extremist elements were weakening the foundations of the country and there was a need to promote the culture of religious tolerance and restraint.

The State Minister lauded the arrangements made by Attock police during Muharramul Harram and for Indian Sikhs who visited Gurdwara Punja Sahib Hasanabdal last week.

The DPO gave a detailed briefing with regard to law and order situation in the district.

He said that a special drive had been launched against the anti social elements and the culprits involved in different crimes would be brought to book.
