LAHORE: The Punjab Young Doctors Association has announced going on strike at OPD of Lahore General Hospital to press for the demand of restoration of five doctors suspended for alleged negligence that led to the death of a patient.

Addressing a press conference at LGH on Monday, YDA Punjab President Dr Ajmal Chaudhry said that the strike would continue till acceptance of demands. The YDA leadership also demanded fresh probe from an independent committee, saying that the one headed by Prof Faisal Masood was not impartial. Dr Amer Bandesha, Dr Adnan Gondal, Dr Altamash and Dr Saud Saher were also present.  Dr Amer Banndesha demanded immediate restoration of suspended doctors, saying that the YDA would go on complete strike at the LGH and would not allow even a minor surgery in wards. He said that it was a pity that the government has not implemented service structure even two years after signing the agreement with the medical community.  He demanded converting 250 unpaid seats of PG trainees to paid, allowing paid house job to graduates from private medical colleges and abroad and increase in PG trainees seats for overcoming shortage of specialists. –staff Reporter

He said that the YDA would launch a strong protest if demands were not accepted till December 6.
