GUJRANWALA-As many as 50 deserving couples tied the knot at a mass wedding ceremony held here under the auspices of Sufi Welfare Society here the other day.

The mass wedding held in a marriage hall at Sialkot Bypass was attended by a large number of people from different walks of life. On the occasion, the participants were served with cold drink and one dish meal. They were informed that the Sufi welfare society has been arranging mass wedding since 2002 and about 300 deserving couples are married off on annual basis. Every bridegrooms were given dowry worth Rs100,000 by the society.

Citizens deprived of cash, other valuables

KASUR - Citizens were deprived of cash, gold jewellery and other valuables in different theft and robbery incidents here the other day.

According to police, Asghar Ali of Faqirye Wala was on the way to Sahid village on a car. Near Fatehpur Railway crossing, three dacoits intercepted him at gunpoint and deprived him of car, cellphone and cash. In another incident, thieves broke into the house of Masroor Ahmed at Rahim City, Pattoki and made off with Rs200,000, five tola gold jewellery, a laptop and other valuables. Police registered cases and launched investigation.
