LAHORE The two rounds 3rd Legends Classic Golf event got off to a fiery start at the superb par 72, Royal Palm Golf Course with 20 amateurs having handicaps between 4 and 15 matched against 20 amateurs from Karachi. By the end of the first round, winning flair was apparent in the performance of the Lahore team as they emerged front runners with two points advantage over Karachi in the first days matches. Through six wins and four losses, Lahore are just a little ahead and as per format of this classic, the scramble has already started and in the final. For sheer excitement, this golf event carried a unique touch as golfers got into a ferocious combat to earn honors not for self but for the team they represent. For Lahore the team combination of Tariq Misbah and Sardar Murad were simply glorious and their seven holes birdie charge left Asad IA Khan and his partner Yasir Zaidi utterly shocked. Asad just could not believe that they could lose by an unbelievable margin of 9/7. Equally combative was Lahores combination of Shahid Iqbal and Ramzan Sheikh and they too produced ample fire works to outbirdie their very strong opponents comprising of Omer Farooq and Moji Bilal simply because Shahid was totally focused supported by Ramzans accurate fairway shots. Other combinations who played well for Lahore are Haider Malli and Masood Piracha, Ibrahim Qureshi and Syed Umair, Asad Agha and Fareed Bajwa, Amer Mehmood and Mohsin Leghari. The winning combinations for Karachi were Mikaeel Habib and Rashid Malik, Khalid Siddique and Altaf Hashwani, Nadir Leghari and Navaid Ali and Aly Rana and Mansoor Teli. The final round on Sunday promises cutting edge stuff with the Karachi lads chasing an urge to win back the challenge trophy held by Lahore.
