LAHORE: The first international Physical Agility and Combat Efficiency System (PACES) Championship-2016 organised by Pakistan Army commenced amid an impressive opening ceremony at the Ayub Stadium, Lahore Garrison on Tuesday.

Army contingents of Nepal, United Kingdom, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, People’s Liberation Army (China), Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Maldives, Bahrain, Australia, USA, Turkey, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Turkey will participate in the event.

Around 377 army men of 20 countries will demonstrate their stamina, physical fitness and combat skill during the six-day event.

Teams will contest in the disciplines of pull-ups, sit-ups, and combat efficiency test. Earlier, a full dress rehearsal was held in which squads of the participating army teams took part.

Meanwhile, Australian army cricket team also arrived in Pakistan to play three T20 matches with Pakistan Army and Pakistan Cricket Board young team.

The 25-membr squad will participate in first ever PACES competition being hosted by Pakistan Army at Lahore from 18th Oct to 23rd Oct, 2016.

The event will be participated by 16 countries. Sri Lankan team has already arrived in Pakistan to participate in the mega event.
