LAHORE - The newly appointed chief executive officer of Lesco, Wajid Ali Kazmi, has directed the authorities to adopt safety measures for field staff during work on power lines.

Directions were issued to control the fatal accidents of Lesco staff during work on transmission lines. Dozens of employees electrocuted during work on different occasions as the non-adoption of safety measures was the main reason behind the unfortunate accidents. The enforcement of safety rules for field staff was the long standing demand of Wapda unions.

The Lahore Electric Supply Company head, in an emergency meeting at company head office yesterday, discussed with officials all the aspects to control the accidents on transmission lines and projects areas. Kazmi issued directives for GM Operations, Chief Engineer Operations and other senior staff to personally monitor the work on different projects and ensure the staff adopted all safty measures before starting work on electric lines.
