Islamabad - Hundreds of sanitary workers yesterday protested in front of Capital Development Authority (CDA) headquarters against non-payment of their monthly salaries.

Chanting slogans against the administration of the authority, the sanitary workers including a large number of female workers demanded early release of their three-month dues and warned that they would not clean the city. The workers started their march from Sitara Market and assembled in front of the CDA headquarters and later staged a sit-in for hours.

Around 700 sanitary workers of different sectors have not been paid for the last three months. They are employed by the contractor who, according to the affectees, offered different excuses as they pressed him for the release of payments from time to time.  Later, the sanitary workers dispersed after the assurances given by the CDA officials for early release of their dues.
