RAWALPINDI - A notorious leader of a three-member gang involved in various street crimes and armed robberies got release from Adiala Jail while obtaining fake court orders Robkar, well-placed sources revealed here on Saturday.

According to sources, Sharjil Bhatti son of Ghulam Rasool, resident of Dhoke Ratta, was freed from Adiala Jail on August 13, 2012 following the bail orders of an Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Chaudhry Tariq. The mugger also submitted fake surety bond with the court of a Magistrate Sardar Hamid, sources added.

A case under sections 420/681/71/467 and 419 has been lodged with Police Station (PS) Civil Line on August 16 on the application of Magistrate Sardar Hamid Hussain, informed a police official.

The police official further informed that the applicant informed the police that the accused submitted fake surety bond with his court and fled from Adyala Jail. He added that the accused Sharjil Bhatti was netted by Police Station Waris Khan on account of looting a woman on Benazir Bhutto Road (BBR).

The police official said that police have inserted the offences of cheating, impersonation, forging official seals and documents, forgery and using fake property documents adding that investigation was on.

According to inquiry launched by this scribe, PS Waris Khan officials, after hectic efforts, held Sharjil Bhatti along with his accomplice Bilal from Peshawar Airport soon after his departure to Dubai after his fresh crime in which he looted cash worth in million of rupees and jewellery on 17/1/2012 A citizen Syed Sibtul Hassan lodged a complaint with PS Waris Khan that he along with his wife arrived at Koh-i-Noor Market on BBR for shopping.

He said that we went to a shop while his wife remained seated in the car. Meanwhile, two intruders came on a motorcycle carrying weapons and snatched from his wife the handbag carrying jewelry, Rs 7, 90,000, 5000 USD and 800 Pounds and later fled.

Police later dig out that a three member gang led by Sharjil Bhatti was involved in the crime and later nabbed Bhatti and Bilal and sent them Adyala Jail after recovering Rs 1,500, 000 from them.  Meanwhile, police recovered a kidnapped man along with the ransom amount and arrested 3 kidnappers during a raid in the limits of Police Station Westridge.

SP Potohar Division Syed Haseeb Shah, while addressing a press conference held at PS Westridge on Saturday, disclosed that on 21/7/2012 four armed men barged into the house of one Zubair Yusaf and looted cash, jewellery, motorcycle and other valuables. He added that the muggers while fleeing also kidnapped a young man Usman Yousaf, the brother of the house owner Zubair Yusaf and later demanded Rs 5 million as ransom for his safe release.

After registration of case, the SP said following the instructions of City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokher a police team was constituted tasking it to nab the kidnappers and recover the detainee. Haseeb Shah mentioned that on information that the kidnappers kept the detainee in a house at Dhoke Karam, a raid was conducted during which the kidnappers were apprehended whereas the detainee was recovered.

Police also recovered Rs 2, 50, 000 cash, the amount was paid to kidnappers by the victim family. The kidnappers were identified as Ashfaq Ahmed, Syed Bakhat Nawab and Haji Dil, SP asserted.

Further investigation was under way.
