LAHORE – A 45-year-old woman died under mysterious circumstances in the Shafiqabad police area on Saturday.

Police investigators said the deceased, identified as Salma Bibi, hailing from Multan, arrived in the provincial metropolis to draw money of Zakat from the office of the Benazir Income Support Programme at Milli Road.

“She was standing in the row, when all of sudden she became unconscious and fell down,” said the on-duty police officer, adding that she was shifted to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead. The body was removed to the City morgue for autopsy. Police are awaiting the postmortem report to ascertain the main cause of her death.

Also, a notorious drug-peddler Muhammad Liaqat Ali was nabbed by Nulakha police from his hideout situated near the Railway Station. During preliminary interrogation, the arrested man has confessed to his involvement in several cases of drugs peddling in different police areas.
