OUR STAFF REPORTER WAZIRABAD - The secretary of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Gujranwala urged students to select science and technology as subject at intermediate level instead of Medical and Engineering subjects. Addressing the welcome party of male section held in Wazirabad Campus of the Punjab Group of Colleges, Prof Amanullah Khan stated that performance of female students remained better in Speech and Essay Writing Competition Programme of the Punjab CM and two girls from Wazirabad Campus clinched two top positions. He also urged male students to make great strides in education. He also said that students should give importance science and technology which needs to be learnt and is a requirement of the time in Pakistan, adding that experts in science & technology are required in both public and private sectors. Increasing educational aptitude is a good sign of bright future of Pakistan. Punjab Group of Colleges is promoting quality of education and has exemplary position, he said. Earlier, Principal Prof Sajjadul Hasan highlighted the collective and individual performance of the PGC and said, The PGC has played a vital role in promoting quality education and maintaining standard as well as attitude of the students. Later, Prof Hasan Bilal, Sayyed Faizan Bukhari and Talat Iqbal also addressed the ceremony. Student quota increased: The Punjab government has increased the quota of students at Govt Khawaja Muhammad Safdar Medical College (GKMSMC) Sialkot to 150 students from last years quota of 100 students. Talking to the newsmen here, PML-N Central Leader MNA Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that there was a 50 percent increase in this quota. He added that the construction of the medical colleges own building would be started in January 2012.
