WARBURTON

The nations make mockery of education cannot prosper and achieve progress, said students of elementary education and their parents. While talking to The Nation during a survey, the students and their parents lamented that first the Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) exempted students from one paper of Social Studies in Grade 5th examination and students of Grade 8th from three papers - Social Studies, Arabic and Optional. Then the PEC cancelled the Mathematics paper of Grade 8th on February 14 at the eleventh hour without citing any reason and the next date for its conduct. They regretted that nobody knew as to what happened and what would happen, adding that the students were worried about the uncertainty and ‘secrete plan’ of the PEC for the Grade 5th and Grade 8th examinations.

The parents objected to the barely credible examinations conducted by the PEC and questioned its capacity to discharge such an important responsibility. They condemned the ‘childish’ attitude of the Punjab Education Commission and asked the Punjab government to stop playing with the future of the nation.

They demanded Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz to take notice of the PEC ineptitude and order prompt steps to save such anomalies in the examination.

They also urged the Punjab CM to notice the past performance of the PEC as since its establishment the students had faced difficulties in every examination.
