New Delhi: The protest starting from Jawahirlal Nehro University has spread all over India. Students of different universities in major cities staged protest rallies in favour of JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar, who was arrested on February 9 for leading a rally in New Delhi on the death anniversary Kashmiri leader Afzal Guro. According to media, the students holding play cards chanted slogans against the Indian government accusing it of depriving the citizens of the right of freedom of speech. T-shirts with printed picture of the student leader have been on demand as a large no of students wore the shirts to express their solidarity with Kumar.

According to source, a train coming from Bihar to Delhi was also stopped by protesting students. The Indian Supreme Court refused to accept his bail plea and now the high court will hear his case. He was shifted to Tehar Jail where Guro was kept before his execution.
