Islamabad - The accountants working in federal government educational institutions (FGEIs) cantonments/garrisons have demanded the authorities to upgrade them from BPS-14 to BPS-16 in the light of court orders.

The FGEIs accountants were of the opinion that orders of their up-gradation were passed by the Federal Services Tribunal after hearing of their appeal. The court had ordered on January 21, 2016 to upgrade the accountants but the concerned ministry of defence and finance division have not issued their up-gradation notification till to date.

The accountants said that they were in great grievance due to negligence of the concerned departments.

Seeking equal basic pay scale (BPS), the accountants of the FGIE cants/garrisons have urged the government to end discrimination by providing scale up-gradations delivered to accountants of FGEIs Directorate Islamabad and other departments of federal ministries.

The accountants expressed views seeking up-gradations similar to what government has given to FDE Islamabad accountants by revising their scale from BPS-14 to BPS-16.

They underscored that all ministries and other departments had awarded such up-gradation to their accountants and questioned that why the federal government was not paying heed to the matter. They demanded the federal government to improve their scales for well-being of the government servants in the light of the decision of FST.

The accountants also showed eagerness to attain scale up-gradation. They urged the federal government to provide equivalent status. They underscored that this was constitutional obligation of the government to avoid discriminating among workers.

Accountants viewed the situation as discriminatory and hoped that they would be given due up-gradations as early as possible.
