Rawalpindi - A court yesterday dropped charges of election rigging against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate of Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB).

District and Sessions Judge (DSJ) Khalid Navid Dar has given clean chit to PML-N candidate Chaudhry Khurram Shehzad in the case of election rigging. According to details, Chaudhry Khurrum Shahzad, a resident of Dheri Hassanabad area of Rawalpindi, contested election in 2015 for the slot of councillor in the jurisdiction of CCB and was declared successful but his opponent (an independent candidate) challenged his victory in the court of DSJ Khalid Naveed Dar accusing him of poll rigging.

Arguing before the court, Syed Mustafa Kama, the lawyer of Khurram, said that his client won the election of CCB with thumping majority and the allegations of rigging were baseless and concocted. Later, the court dropped the case against PML-N candidate.
