Islamabad - The Foreign Office yesterday committed another blunder as Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, without any confirmation, released tribute to Abdul Sattar Edhi over his ‘demise’.

The FO withdrew the condolence message it issued earlier on ‘wrong information’ of Pakistan’s philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi’s demise.

“We are withdrawing the press release titled, “Sattar Edhi – a soul who lived for others”. The adviser paid tributes to Edhi on the wrong information sent to this office. Inconvenience is regretted,” the FO said in a statement. Earlier, the FO issued a statement in which Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz paid tributes to Edhi and offered condolence over ‘his sad demise’.

“Today, with the sad demise of legendary philanthropist Maulana Abdul Sattar Edhi, everyone in Pakistan, Pakistanis abroad and millions of others, are in mourning. The iconic Edhi Sahib was a soul who spent his whole life engaged in the noble cause of serving humanity. He lived for others. Aziz added we are deeply saddened to lose an ambassador of Pakistan, whose work in the country and abroad projected its true image and he was a matter of great pride for all of us. Edhi’s acts of philanthropy are innumerable and no words of praise are adequate to describe these acts and the positive impact. He will be remembered as we remain indebted to him.”
