KARACHI: The Green Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project is the ray of hope for the people of Karachi who are seriously suffering from transport woes but the uplift work for the project has become an issue itself for the citizens.

Construction work with the heavy machinery is being carried out from Sareena Chowrangi to Gurumandir in the nights as well as in days, causing hardships to the commuters travelling in buses, cars, bikes and other transport. Traffic jam in North Nazimabad, Golimar, Lasbela and Gurumandir has become usual as there were no real alternate route for the vehicles to pass.

The situation becomes even worse in the rush hours from 5 Pm to onwards when vehicles get stuck for several hours. The people are hoping that their issues would be resolved after the completion of the project but for that they have to wait till 2018.

The project was to be completed in the mid of 2017, but the provincial Transport Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said in the Assembly that BRT would be completed by 2018 as its route has been extended from Surjani to Tower instead of Gurumandir.
