Islamabad-National Telecommunication Corporation Development Working Party (DWP) yesterday approved six development projects of worth Rs 129 Million. According to officials, the approved projects included expansion of telecom infrastructure to un-served districts of Haripur and Pakpattan. Two projects covering Okara Cantt and Army Garrison Sarghoda were also approved by DWP to enhance NTC network in Pakistan Army Cantonments.

MD Viqar Rashid Khan informed the forum that government of Pakistan has mandated National Telecom to provide telecom/ICT services to all government departments/organizations throughout the country.  He further elaborated that in case corporation network is not available, then it will arrange such services under Public Private Partnership or any other means as per Telecom Policy 2015.

Accordingly, corporation has signed various agreements with other Telecommunication companies in the country.

As a result of Technical developments, organisation has increased its footprint from 54 districts/cities to 84 districts/cities, which is a record growth in public sector, he said.
