NOWSHERA VIRKAN/SAMBRIAL/ BUREWALA/-HAFIZABAD-The PML-N lion’s share in the district council divided in the elections of Tehsil Municipal Committees as the party, despite having majority in the DCs, lost in many tehsils across Punjab either to forward bloc or the political rivals.

According to unofficial results, an independent Nahra group clinched six out of seven reserved seats of the TMC Nowshera Virkan. According to the returning officer, Tasleem Kausar w/o Muhammad Akram Khan, Syeda Mutahira Batool w/o Syed Rizwan Ali Shah, Saba Bibi w/o Shahid Mehmood and Anayat Bibi w/o Muhammad Zafar of Nahra Group remained successful on four reserved seats for women.

Similarly, Nahra Group candidate Muhammad Ashraf grabbed the labour seat while Noman Siddique Siddhu won the seat reserved for youth while Pervaiz Masih was elected unopposed on minority seat. After clinching six out of seven seats in the TMC, the group has come into a position to nominate its candidate for the slot of TMC chairman.

In Sambrial, elections were conducted to seven reserved seats of the TMC. The PTI won the elections by gaining four seats including two women and one seat each of youth and labour. The PML-N could get two seats of women only while the contestants on minority seat obtained equal votes.

From the PTI’s platform, Misbah Raheem, Nabila Yousaf, Kamran Babar (youth) and Rana Nauman Haider (Labour) contested the elections and remained successful. The PML-N winning candidates are Nasreen Kausar and Nazia Qaiser.

In Burewala, the elections were conducted to 10 reserved seats of the Tehsil Municipal Committee.

PML-N four ticket holders were elected including Fozia Nasreen and Abida Kausar on women seats, Malik Rehmat Ali on labour seat and Shamoon Masih on minority seat.

The PTI-backed PML-N forward block won six seats including three women and one seat each of labour, youth and minority.

In Hafizabad, election to the reserved seats of women, youth and labour of the Tehsil Municipal Committees Hafizabad, Pindi Bhattian, Sukheke and Jalalpur Bhattian were held amid tight security.

MPAs - Malik Fayyaz Ahmad Awan and Ch Asadullah Arain of the PML-N group, who had developed serious rift with the State Minister Saira Afzal Tarar and her father Mian Afzal Hussain Tarar, after the local government elections, has defeated the Tarar group by getting five seats. Afzal group got four seats while PTI could secure only one seat in the TMC Hafizabad.

The following are the successful candidates of the MPA group: Faisal Hassan, Hafiz Abdul Rehman Jurral, Nighat Khan, Sajeela Amjad and Augustine Masih. Rahat Ayubi Butt of PTI was also declared winner. Rai Ghazanfar Ali Kharal, Sumaira Ashraf Qazi, Iqbal Begum and Sohail Sahotra of PML-N were also elected.

In Pindi Bhattian, the PML-N got five out of seven seats and the remaining two were grabbed independent candidates. In Sukheke, the PML-N got five seats while the PTI could get only one seat. In Jalalpur Bhattian, all the PML-N candidates on five reserved seats were elected unopposed.
