SHIKARPUR - At least three people were killed while eight others sustained severe injuries in road accident took place near village Garhi Sahib Khan at Indus Highway on Friday. 

According to an official of Dakhan Police Station, a commuter coach heading to Karachi from Peshawar collided with Mazda, which was coming to opposite direction, resultantly, three persons identified as Sadheer Bhutto, 28, resident of Alif Shah Shaheed Shikarpur, Qamaruddin Bhutto, 30, resident of suburb of Shikarpur, and one traveler of coach, identified as Aamir Ali son of Nawab Khan, were killed on the spot, whereas eight other persons identified as Ayesha, Nasim, Usman Ghani, Nazar Muhammad, Shahzad Ali, Sher Ali and three children received severe injuries. 

The bodies were shifted to Tehsil Headquarter hospital Madeji for post-mortem and injured for medical treatment, from where the bodies handed over to their heirs after conducting postmortem examination, police added. 

The area police have taken the commuter coach and Mazda vehicle into their custody. An FIR was not registered till filing of this report.


Two welders were died in tire blast incident at their welding shop situated at Khanpur Bus Stop in Khanpur, the tehsil of Shikarpur, in the limits of Khanpur Police Station, some 15 kilometers from here, on Friday morning.

According to Khanpur SHO Ayub Dogar, two welders identified as Raja Mughal, 45, and Nazar Muhammad Mughal, 35, were died in tire blast incident, when who were busy welding the tires of the truck and suddenly the tire exploded due to heat.

The area police is investigating the incident and detained the truck owner named Naimatullah Khan Pathan for investigation, said SHO.


Shikarpur police have arrested an accused, Ayub Brohi, who was managed to escape after the deadly clash took place at the main gate of Garhi Yasin Police Station, in which, one police officer was also received grave injuries,  a couple of days back, on Friday.

The Shikarpur police claimed to have arrested Ayub Brohi, who had admitted in Shikarpur Civil Hospital for medical treatment, acting on tip-off, police have arrested him while further an investigation is into the matter, police claimed.

It pertinent to mention here that, a couple of days ago, a clash had taken place at the main gate of Garhi Yasin Police Station, which claimed two lives of armed attackers during firing four assailants managed to escape along with their one injured accomplices, in which, one police officer, Noor Muhammad Jakkhro, the SHO, Garhi Yasin was received grave injuries.

The Rangers personnel and Police personnel cordoned off the Civil Hospital Shikarpur.
