QUETTA -  Two militants of an outlawed organisation, BRA, were killed yesterday in exchange of fire with security forces in Dera Bugti.

According to the spokesman for Frontier Corps Balochistan, its forces operated in the area of Doiwan, district Dera Bugti, on a tip-off and killed two terrorists in exchange of fire.

The neutralised militants were involved in subversive activities ranging from attacking security forces to targeting gas pipelines and other destructive activities, disclosed the spokesman.

Meanwhile, Kharotabad police nailed two criminals wanted in various crimes. The police also recovered snatched motorcycles and huge cache of drugs from them.

FOOLPROOF SECURITY FOR CHEHLUM

Foolproof security arrangements will be afoot for the security of Chehlum processions in Quetta.

A moot to finalise security measures for the routes of mourning processions, Imambargahs and mosques was held with Quetta Deputy Commissioner Engineer Abdul Wahid Kakar in the chair. The meeting was also attended by SSP (Operation) Muhammad Iqbal, Frontier Corps Sector Commander Lt-Col Muhammad Ashraf, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), representatives of the health DG, Bolan Medical Complex and Metropolitan Corporation.

The meeting decided to take stringent security arrangements to protect Chehlum processions to avoid any untoward incident. It was decided that departments concerned would be directed to take care of street lights and cleanliness. In addition, presence of representatives of all the departments in the control room set up in the deputy commissioner’s office to monitor the arrangements would be ensured.

Pillion riding would be banned on the Chehlum day in Quetta and complete checking of vehicles would also be ensured, said Deputy Commissioner Abdul Wahid Kakar, addressing the meeting.

He also directed the authorities concerned to provide an alternate system of electricity for the processions during loadshedding.

The participants were also briefed on the security arrangements finalised for Chehlum processions.
