LAHORE - Investigation wing of Lower Mall police are allegedly using delaying tactics in apprehending a fake traffic warden who dodged the City Traffic Police for four years and received salaries worth Rs1.1 million, The Nation has learnt. According to inquiry report of August 19, 2010, which was conducted under the supervision of SP Headquarter Sohail, warden Aamir Ghani (3109), son of Ch Abdul Ghani, resident of Union Council 58, Shakargarh, district Narowal, was in fact Hafiz Muhammad Adnan, son of Munir. He was inducted as warden after he presented educational certificates of one Aamir Ghani, son of Ch Abdul Ghani, the official document said. An FIR (1308/10) was registered under section 419, 420, 468, 471 and 155/C of Police Order 2002 at Lower Mall police station on August 30 against Hafiz Adnan on the directions of the City Traffic Officer (CTO) SSP Cap (retired) Syed Ahmed Mobin. According to the FIR, complainant Aamir Ghani is an Assistant Research Officer (BPS-17) at Maize and Millet Research Institute (Yousaf Wala, Sahiwal). The District Account Office, Sahiwal, told him that a warden of the same name having same national identity card was already drawing his salary from Lahore when the complainant reached the office to receive salary. The accused is still at large. Police raided a rented flat located in Badami Bagh some days back on a tip-off but the accused managed to flee from his place, Investigation Office of the case Sub-Inspector Muhammad Yousuf said when contacted. As the accused is the resident of Maoza Jhangi, Tehsil Shakargarh so police need 'reasonable time to apprehend him. His father, uncle, and real brothers namely Muhammad Ahsan and Mohammad Farooq however have endorsed the accused warden had dodged the traffic police, he remarked. Yousuf pledged the police would also retake the money, which the fake warden drew on behalf of his department. He hoped the accused would be arrested within ten days. The CTO SSP Syed Ahmed Mobin said as Hafiz Adnan had misled the department and also earned bad reputation for a noble citizen Aamir Ghani so a strict departmental action would be initiated against him.
