LAHORE – The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Tuesday auctioned 13 properties, including four school sites, seven commercial plots and two residential plots, situated in various housing schemes of the City for Rs168.84 million.

An open auction of public utility sites, as well as residential and commercial plots, was held at the LDA Community Centre. Vice Chairman Aamir Asghar Dar supervised the auction conducted by the LDA’s Auction Committee comprising directors of estate management, land development and finance. Per marla base price of these plots had been estimated by the approved evaluators of the State Bank of Pakistan.

Four school sites situated in various private schemes were auctioned on this occasion. The school site of Abdalian Society – measuring 3 kanals, 18 marlas and 100 square feet – was auctioned for Rs550,000 per marla against the base price of Rs180,000 per marla.

The second school site situated in Abid Town – measuring 2 kanals, 12 marlas and 53 square feet – was auctioned for Rs228,000 per marla against the base price of Rs210,000 per marla.

The third school site situated in B Block of Campus View Society – measuring 3 kanals, 8 marlas and 50 square feet – was auctioned for Rs260,000 per marla against the base price of Rs200,000 per marla.

The fourth school site situated in A Block of Campus View Society – measuring 2 kanals, 18 marlas and 86 square feet – was auctioned for Rs220,000 per marla against the base price of Rs200,000 per marla.

Of the seven commercial plots auctioned on this occasion, the maximum bid was offered for commercial plot No 422, Block D2, measuring 324 square metres, that was auctioned for Rs1.135 million per marla against the base price of Rs1 million. The minimum bid of Rs860,000 per marla was offered for commercial plot No 418, Block D2, measuring 324 square metres; while its base price had been fixed as Rs850,000.

Two residential plots in Sabazar Housing Scheme, bearing No 715 and 716, Block D, were also sold through open auction on this occasion for Rs285,000 per marla and Rs275,000 per marla, respectively, against the reserve price of Rs250,000.

Also, the LDA on Tuesday imposed major penalty of dismissal from service on two of its officials.

Driver Muhammad Alam was proceeded against under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act, 2006, on the charge of being absent from duty since March 26 without any intimation or  prior permission from the competent authority. Sub-Engineer Mughees-ud-Din was also proceeded against under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act, 2006, on account of absence from duty since July 30, 2010, without any intimation or permission from the competent authority, as well as on account of his inaction against the unauthorised commercial construction and non-implementation of demolition orders at plot No 19-F, PIA Housing Scheme.

Sub-Engineers Younas Dar was also proceeded against under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act, 2006, on account of his inaction against the unauthorised commercial construction and non-implementation of demolition orders at plot No 19-F, PIA Housing Scheme. Minor penalty of stoppage of one increment for one year has been imposed on him.

Meanwhile, Lahore District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal said on Tuesday that all outstanding measures had been adopted to pump out the stagnant rainwater in different areas of the City. He said all officials concerned had been doing their best to wipe out the standing rainwater.

The DCO expressed these views while inspecting the pumping out of rainwater in different locations of the City. He also visited Laximi Chowk and the Walled City. Mengal stated no negligence would be tolerated on official end and removal of water was the top most responsibility of City District Government Lahore (CDGL) official.
