MULTAN - A revenue officer (patwari) has allegedly occupied a girls primary school in Shujabad area and turned it into a cattle shed, barring dozens of students from education.

EDO Education Tahira Shafiq Chishti is learnt to have submitted a report to the DCO Multan, alleging that the patwari namely Tahir Shah had illegally occupied Government Girls Primary School in Shujabad as a result of which not even a single student is enrolled at the school. The issue came to the notice of the EDO when she carried out a surprise visit of the school and got astonished after seeing cows and buffalos inside the school. She accused the patwari of hurling threats of dire consequences to her and asked the Assistant Commissioner Shujabad and DCO Multan to take notice of this issue.

21 BIO-GAS PLANTS: In a bid to promote bio-gas method in rural areas for coping with energy crisis, the Punjab Government is going to give 21 bio-gas plants to the residents of Multan. The names of 21 citizens were finalized through balloting here on Tuesday. The provincial government has launched a big project across the province to promote alternate energy sources and 408 applications were received by the district administration for 21 plants. The district administration said that more plants would be given to the farmers and residents of rural areas in next phase.
