KARACHI - Russian Consul General in Karachi Andrey V Demidov Tuesday said Russia was keen to participate in big public sector projects particularly those relating to power and energy. During his visit to the Federation House here, he said Pakistan is a trade gateway for Russia and provides the most natural trade corridor to reach the landlocked counties of Central Asia. He said that Russia was providing 9 scholarships every year to Pakistani students. He advised Pakistani students to overcome the language barrier and step forward to take advantage of the opportunity to acquire quality higher education in Russia.Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani, president of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), while welcoming the guest, pointed out that Pakistan’s trade with Russia was below the potential despite steadily strengthening relations between the two countries. Therefore, he said, exchange of trade delegations and trade related events were essential to increase trade between the two countries. “This would ensure that trade grows to satisfactory level beyond the existing level of around $300 million,” he added.
