LAHORE - Affectees of Eden Housing projects gathered outside the NAB offices at Thokar Niaz Baig on Thursday and staged a protest against the management.

A good number of protesters carrying placards inscribed with slogans against Eden Housing demanded that management of the housing projects should be arrested.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore Director General Shehzad Saleem was briefed that thousands of people had been deprived of their hard-earned money amounting to billions of rupees by Eden Housing. Several applications have been filed against the housing projects.

The NAB Lahore chief vowed that only merit would prevail. He ordered full-fledged criminal proceedings against the Eden administration and freezing all properties and bank accounts owned by the Eden Administration. NAB Lahore has directed the excise department not to allow transfer or sale of any vehicles registered in the name of the said administration.

Earlier in February this year, as a measure to stop Eden Housing officials from fleeing abroad, NAB had written to the interior ministry to put their names on the Exit Control List (ECL). The ministry however remained unmoved and the accused fled abroad. NAB has blacklisted Dr Amjad’s passport, whereby, efforts are under way to do the same to his co-owners’ passports.

NAB Lahore has been direly working to form a committee consisting of officials from the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Eden Administration representative, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) officials, Eden affectees’ representative and NAB Lahore’s investigation officials. The team would work to address the complaints on a permanent basis.

For the convenience of the Eden effectees to lodge complaints against Eden Housing projects, NAB Lahore has uploaded its complaint form on the NAB website.

The NAB Lahore DG is monitoring all proceedings of the case, spokesman for the bureau concluded.
