PUEBLA, Mexico (AFP) - A massive blast on a state-owned pipeline in central Mexico on Sunday killed 22 people, injured 32 others and damaged more than 30 surrounding homes, state officials said. Puebla state secretary Valentin Meneses said the pre-dawn explosion along the Petroleos Mexicanos pipeline in Texmelucan occurred when thieves were trying to steal fuel. Two of the injured are in serious condition, Meneses said, adding that emergency crews had managed to douse the flames and bring the fire under control. Television images showed a huge cloud of black smoke over the pipeline and people rushing from their homes to seek safety.
