ISLAMABAD (APP) A four-day fellowship programme arranged by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for Islamabad based news agencies journalists concluded here on Saturday. The workshop was organised under Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Media University Project at Information Services Academy. The workshop focused on News Editing & Reporting for News Agencies and more than 42 Islamabad based journalists participated in the workshop. Senior journalists highlighted different aspects of journalism and said that journalists first obligation is to find truth and his first loyalty is for the citizens of his country. Director General, External Publication, Ghulam Hazoor Bajwa said like other parts of the world Pakistani journalists were not enjoying enough facilities to meet international standards. However, he said the establishment of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Media University would help journalist community to meet the world standards. He advised the participants to bring flow in the news story so it could attract readers attention. He also urged the participants to focus on research as it would help them in making good news stories. He said PC-1 of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University is ready and expressed the hope that the university would soon be ready to arrange more informative courses for journalists. Managing Director of Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) Riaz Khan while expressing his views stressed the need for investigative journalism. He hoped that the university would conduct more courses for journalists in future. He said a well-versed journalist could develop a more engaging story. Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Media University Project Director, Farooq Khan said that as part of commitment towards free media, the government has launched a fellowship programme for journalists that would ultimately be merged into Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Media University as a tribute to the great leader and her vision. He said the university would arrange more courses in future for training of journalists. He appreciated the participants for their keen interest in the proceedings of the workshop. At the end, Ghulam Hazoor Bajwa distributed certificates among the participants.
