LAHORE - The Lahore High Court has ordered the authorities of Directorate General of Public Relations Punjab to allow a selected candidate to join duty as article writer. The Lahore High court passed these orders on the petition of Syed Imtiaz-ul-Hassan who had challenged denial of joining to him as an article writer despite selection on the seat. The petitioner through his lawyer Mohammad Azhar Siddique Advocate submitted he was selected as an article writer in Directorate General Public Relations but his appointment letter was not sent to him and he was only informed about his selection after the expiry of the appointment letter. Earlier, the court had issued notice to the then Punjab director general public relations Atta Muhammad Baloch seeking para-wise comments from him. In reply, the DGPR stated the department had been ready to accept the joining of the appointee but the recruitment to the post was stopped when another candidate, Khalid Rasool, approached the Punjab governor for remedy. The respondents lawyer said the governor had recommended the appointment of Khalid. Azhar Siddique Advocate argued the governor had no authority to make or cancel any appointment in the DGPR and all this was being done with malafide intentions. The court, after hearing the arguments, accepted the petition and directed the DGPR authorities to allow the petitioner to assume his duty.
