LAHORE Wapda won the second Inter-departmental Weightlifting Championship here at the Punjab University Old Campus Ground. Wapda gained 57 points to win the championship orgaisned by Aqeel Javed Butt for the Police Sports Board. Railways with 47 points lifted the runners-up trophy. HEC secured the third place with 44 points. According to organising secretary Aqeel Javed Butt, around 37 lifters took part in this two-day championship. Wapdas gold medal winners were Ibrar Ali 62 kg class, Umar Lone 69 kg class, Iffi Abbas 85 kg, Tahir Ahmed 94 kg, Abbad Ali 105 kg class, whereas, Armys Saqib Butt won gold in 56 kg class, Habib Asgher of HEC got gold in 77kg class and Farhan Saleem of Railways took gold in plus 105 kg class. Col (retd) Asif Dar, secretary Pakistan Weightlifting Federation Hafiz Imran Butt, Akbar Ali Ghakkar, Zubair Butt, Asher Butt, Mushtaq Ahmed and Prof Raja Khizer Hayat were present on the occasion and distributed medals among the winners along with chief guest ex-chairman of Punjab Poultry Association Shahid Mahmood Dar. Results: 56 kgs: Saqib Butt (Army), Mazhar (Railways), Zeeshan (Police). 62 kgs: Akbar Ali (Wapda), Asad Loan (HEC), Umer Farooq (Railways). 69 kgs: Umer Rasool Lone (Wapda), Zohaib Manzoor (Railways), Bilal Amin (Army). 77 kgs: Habib Asghar (HEC), Salaman Bashir (Army), Ashfaq Ahmad (Army). 85 kgs: Iffi Abbas (Wapda), Sadaam Sajid (HEC), Ali Shan Cheema (HEC). 94 kgs: Tahir Ahmad (Wapda), Shakeel Butt (Wapda), Hafiz Jamil Akhtar (Railways). 105 kgs: Abad Ali (Wapda), Sajid Rasool (Railways), Waqar Asif Butt (Army). +105 kgs: Farhan Saleem (Railways), Saqib Fayyaz (HEC), Abdul Hameed (Army).
