MIRPUR (AJK) (APP) - Top PPP leader and former federal minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira has assured that the scheduled June 26, AJK Legislative Assembly elections will be held in a free and fair atmosphere. The federal govt has already declared categorically that all-out efforts will be made to enable the masses of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to elect their representatives in absolutely free, fair and transparent manner, he added while addressing a mammoth public meeting held at Dadyal late Saturday night in connection with the electioneering of the PPP AJK candidate for LA-1 constituency Afsar Shahid. Former federal minister for power Raja Pervez Ashraf, PPP AJK Chief Ch Abdul Majeed, former AJK Prime Minister Barrister Sultan Mahmood, the PPP candidate Afsar Shahid Advocate, Advisor to PM of Pakistan Mrs Shazia Akber, Khawaja Nazir, Imtiaz Raja and other party leaders also spoke on the occasion and reiterated the partys resolve, after coming into power, to utilise all energies to ensure early success of the Kashmir freedom struggle besides turning AJK into a true model welfare state. Qamar Zaman Kaira continued that by smelling the defeat in the elections at the hands of the PPP, our rivals had, by now, started hue and cry besides leveling baseless charges of rigging in the elections against the party. Kaira said the opponents of PPP had again girded lions against our party and the popularly-elected PPP-led govt by harping on the traditional old tunes mere to save their skin from the forthcoming convincing defeat in the AJK elections.
