LAHORE Six persons, including an 18-year-old girl, died in different parts of the City, with one youth hit to death by the son of a former chief secretary of the Punjab. In the first incident, one Shumaila, a resident of Raiwind City, was killed by her paternal uncle in the wee hours on Sunday. Police investigators said the girl remained missing from her house from 10 pm to 4 am last night. After she returned, her uncle Barkat Ali asked her about her disappearance and when she could not give any reply, Ali hit her head with iron rod. The blow proved fatal, which killed her, police said. Ali later handed himself over to police. In the second incident, one Abbu Shah killed his rival Amjad Shah over a dispute of fixing the area of a local mosque in Badami Bagh police area on Sunday. The accused hit Amjad with rifles butt, which ultimately claimed his life, police said. An FIR has been lodged against the accused on the statement of brother of the deceased. In the third incident, a youth Tariq was crushed to death while his friend suffered multiple injuries during a road accident in the North Cantonment police area. The mishap took place at about 2:00 am on Sunday. Police said the accused driver, later identified as Zohaib Salman, was the son of former Chief Secretary Salman Siddque. Police said the accused was driving a car (LXW-7156) when he struck a bike (LEM-6233). Tariq died on the spot while his friend Ehsan sustained severe injuries. The accused, who had been arrested and put behind the bars by the police concerned, was later handed over to Cantonment SP Hashmat Kamal, who shifted him to some unknown place. In the fourth incident, the body of a 55-year-old woman, thought to have been strangled, was found from the Shafiqabad police area. The woman Umer Daraz, a resident of Block No 2, Street No 7, had been living with her son Attiqul Rehman. She was found dead when her son entered the house after accomplishing his some job, police said. According to Attiqs account, he had had no enmity or dispute with anyone. In the fifth incident, the 35-year-old Muhammad Mumtaz, a resident of Mohni Road, in Batapur police area, died while swimming in the canal. Police said the deceased and his friends were swimming in the Ichhra Canal when he drowned. Later, Rescue 1122 shifted his body to the City morgue for autopsy. In the last incident, a 70-year-old unidentified man died mysteriously near Koray Stop in Walton area on Sunday. The police said they found the body lying near the stand and shifted him to the City morgue.
