LAHORE Secretary Health Punjab Jehanzeb Khan has directed filling of all vacant posts at public sector hospitals on priority basis for ensuring provision of quality healthcare facilities to the masses. Chairing a meeting held here to review the performance of different sections of the department, he directed taking steps to fill all vacant posts through District Selection Boards (DSBs) on ad-hoc basis and the details of vacant posts also be sent to Punjab Public Service Commission for regular appointment. Jehanzeb Khan said that hospitals could not be left without doctors. He further directed DG Health the promotion cases of doctors must be disposed of on priority basis and DPC meeting must be held on regular basis. He said that the writing of Annual Confidential Reports (ACR) of doctors was the prime responsibility of the reporting officers concerned and action should be taken against such officers who did not perform their responsibilities. He directed all Medical Superintendents of public sector hospitals to complete ACRs of the doctors working in their respective hospitals. He handed over the transfer posting powers of grade 1 to 15 to Director General Health Punjab and said that in future all transfer postings of such officials would be made by DG office instead of Health Department Secretariat. The meeting also reviewed the performance of Legal Cell. The Secretary Health directed the law officers to peruse the cases in the courts effectively. He directed them that they should make close coordination with the office of Advocate General Punjab in this regard. He said that preparation of para-wise comments was the responsibility of section concerned of the department while law officers were bound to vet them according to the legal requirements. He said that coordination between law officers and different sections of the department was important.
