MULTAN - The ongoing cotton sowing activity has brought over 5.67 million acres area under cotton cultivation in Punjab till June 9, showing increase in area by 4.37 per cent compared to corresponding period last year. Agriculture officials said farmers would remain engaged with cotton sowing activity till the end of June or extend into first week of July on way to achieving six million acre sowing target in Punjab. Farmers have achieved the 94.52 per cent sowing target till June 9. Giving district-wise details of cotton sowing, officials said that 543,222 acre area was brought under cotton cultivation in Rahimyar Khan, 703,980 acre area in Bahawalpur, 548,835 acre in Vehari, and 621,021 in Bahawalnagar.
