Balochistan budget for the new fiscal year with a total outlay of over Rs 215 billion was announced in Quetta on Thursday.

Presenting the budget, Advisor to Chief Minister Mir Khalid Langove said 50.742 billion rupees of funds have been earmarked for Public Sector Development Programme while over 164 billion rupees have been earmarked for non-development expenditures.

Total income during the fiscal year has been estimated at over 200 billion rupees which will be accommodated from divisible pool.

Over 8 billion rupees will be met from provincial income resources while 15.662 billion rupees deficit has been shown in the budget. He said special priority has been given to education, health, communication, energy, improving law and order and provision of drinking water to the people.The advisor announced 10 per cent increase in salaries of government employees and pensions. He said 17.251 million rupees have been allocated for maintenance of law and order in the province.

Meanwhile, the Balochistan Cabinet Thursday approved provincial budget for the fiscal year 2014-15. The meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch at CM Secretariat, discussed the salient features of the second budget of the coalition government of PML-N, National Party and PkMAP.

The Finance Department sources told APP that with 16 per cent increase, Rs 28987.226 million was earmarked for education sector while Rs 14.148 billion had been allocated for health sector, 26 per cent more than FY 2013-14. Similarly, as many as 3925 new jobs had been created in the provincial departments, while compensation for the victims of terrorism had been raised from Rs 2 million to Rs 4 million. As an austerity measures, ban has also been imposed on the foreign tours of the government employees and lawmakers on government expenses, besides purchase of luxurious vehicles. Sizable amount had been earmarked for agriculture, livestock, fisheries, energy and other production sectors in the budget for fiscal year 2014-15. After the deliberations and briefing on the budget, the Chief Minister Balochistan, CM Advisor on Finance, Mir Khalid Langov and Chief Secretary Babar Yaqoob Fateh Mohammad signed the budget document.
