There are ample opportunities for developing tourism in Punjab with its vast irrigated area comprising six percent of the entire irrigated area of the world. One scenic route that could be developed is the BML Canal issuing from Mustafabad that crosses the Ferozepur Road to reach Changa Manga. If both sides of this major irrigation canal could be provided with asphalt roads on either side, it could provide an additional way to Changa Manga for tourists via Ferozepur road. This canal passes through an area rich in lush crops on either side and would provide a panoramic view to travelers on either side of the canal - something like an elongated experience of Lahore canal that traverses the city of Lahore. The Chief Minister Punjab may like to visit the site as it could also be accessed from the link road being built around Lahore. -DR M. YAQOOB BHATTI, Lahore, via e-mail, November 3.
