MULTAN - The dengue mosquito continues to play havoc as the total number of patients brought to Nishtar Hospital with dengue fever has risen to 463 with an addition of 13 new victims. Although the Health Department made a number of cosmetic arrangements like media campaign, distribution of pamphlets, installation of banners and statements, nothing succeeded to stop the march of killer mosquito. The much needed actions like fumigation drive was not seen anywhere, though the health department claims that 129 union councils of Multan district have so far been sprayed. Hospital sources disclosed that out of total 463 patients, as many as 245 were tested positive while the result of 145 patients turned out negative. Sources added that at least 143 patients belonged to Multan out of which 77 are suffering from dengue fever while 42 are tested negative and the result of 24 others' reports is awaited. Hospital record shows that currently 33 patients are under treatment in dengue ward out of which 10 belong to Multan while remaining others are from different areas of South Punjab.
