MIRPUR (AJK) - In response to the massive public complaints against the mushroom-growth of road-side encroachments in form of illegal truck stands and restaurants in various residential areas of Mirpur city, the local administration have launched drive against illegal truck stands from busiest Defence Road passing through the densely-populated residential sector D/4, it was officially told. On the directives of the District Magistrate / Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Muhammad Tayyeb Chaudhry, authorities got removed an illegally-established truck stands from the Defence Road at Sector D/4 (Near CNG Station) besides getting removed the illegal encroachments made by the road-side hotels and restaurants - in response to the public complaints against these illegal installations, official sources told this scribe here Wednesday. The DC has directed ADC (G) to immediately seal under section 133 the remaining illegal truck stands and road-side hotels/ restaurants causing insecurity and traffic hurdles in resident sector of D/4 near blocks 2/A and 2/B. The administration took the action after the reports of repeated accidents at the Defence Road near the illegal truck stands and hotels following the road side hazards and the illegal parking of the trucks at the self-created truck stands. It may be added that number of casualties and injuries have been reported near the site of the illegal truck stands at the Defence Road following traffic hazards.
