RAWALPINDI Special Judge Central (SJC) Syed Akhlaq Ahmed Shah Wednesday adjourned the hearing till October 25 against three accused, including PML-MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan, in National Police Foundation (NPF) land scam owing to absence of defense counsel. The judge annoyed over absence of defense lawyer Shaukat Aziz Siddique Advocate and strictly ordered the accused to make sure presence of their lawyer on the next date of hearing. SJC Syed Akhlad Ahmed Shah took up NPF land scam case against the accused PML-N MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan, NPF former Deputy Director Laiq Ahmed and another accused. However, the defense lawyer of the accused did not present before the court on which the judge gave one-hour time to the accused to call their lawyer. Despite passage of time given by court the defense lawyer had not appeared in the court, on which SJC observed that the non-serious attitude of defense lawyer was not acceptable in judicial system. The judge said that the accused were on pre arrest bails while court extended their bails ten times as the defense lawyer could not argued on bail pleas. The accused, however, after produced an invitation letter before the judge and apprised him that the defense lawyer Shaukat Aziz Siddique was invited in a function organized by Supreme Court that was why he could not appear before the court. SJC Syed Akhlaq Ahmed Shah, on this, postponed the hearing of NPC land scam till October 25, 2011.
