MALAKAND Leady health workers (LHWs) have been protesting against non-payment of their salaries from last four months. A peaceful demonstration of National Programme for Leady Health Workers Malakand chapter was organised on Wednesday by 533 lady health workers, supervisors, drivers and trainees of health department. The demonstration was started from DHO office Batkhela to DCO office carrying placards, banners and chanting slogans in favor of their demands. The representative of leady health workers told the local media men that they are doing to resume financial restrains on our families. We are working hard from regular health workers but we are always negated by the government and health officials. They told that National programme for Leady Workers was introduce by Benazir Bhutto in 1994 and till now we are treated as contract servants. Our pay is fixed Rs7000 per month, which is un-justified now. They demanded from government that until the government did not give us the arrears of our last 4 months salary and stipends for special duties on polio campaign, we will not participate in any polio campaign or any other health programme. They demanded of the government to regularise their jobs and increase their salaries according to inflation rate. They told that there are compelled to protest for their demands as our voice was ignored by every one. Pakistan Workers federation District Malakand president Gul Zaman while addressing the protesters told that if your demands were not fulfilled till 22nd Oct, then a rally of Pakistan workers Federation will be held from district secretariat to Main Bazaar.
