LAHORE - Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday said government had decided that professors and consultants should also visit small hospitals to examine the dengue patients and on their advice, complicated patients will immediately be shifted to the big hospitals. Presiding over a meeting of an emergency committee to review the situation of dengue virus and steps taken for its eradication in the province, he said that pilot and police squad would be provided to senior doctors for their movement to the hospitals so that they could reach the heath facilities easily and on time. The chief minister said that besides shifting complicated dengue patients from small hospitals to big ones, professors and consultants would also visit the small hospitals for treatment of serious patients. He said that besides research for eradication of dengue virus in the country, training of doctors and nurses is of great importance. He said that a special research cell had been set up for this purpose. He said that apart from making Institute of Public Health an active and vibrant, a comprehensive system for training of doctors and nurses had also been evolved and more than 250 doctors and nurses have got training in various hospitals during last two days and this process will continue. While directing the Information and Technology Board to collect the data of dengue affected patients belonging to other districts in the hospitals, he said that the collection of update data of the patients will help in research and the steps to be taken for eradication of dengue in future. He asked the Education Minister and Secretary Education to visit the private educational institutions on daily basis and review the arrangements there.
