The oil prices at international level have dropped from US$ 147 to US$ 91. But the Pakistan government has only given a token relief of Rs 5 on petrol and actually increased the price of diesel by Rs 3.50. This is strange action because, firstly, why would diesel prices go up when the international price of crude is falling? Secondly, is the (PPP) government totally unaware of the fact that diesel is the fuel used in commercial transportation of all kinds? Increase in diesel price means addition to cost of everything. -ABDUL RAUF, Fateh Jang, via e-mail, September 17.
