ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the week ended on September 18, for the lowest income group up to Rs.3,000, has registered decrease of 0.37 percent over the previous week. The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 216.42 as against 217.22 registered in the previous week, according to data released by Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) here on Friday. The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2000-2001=100 covering 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined. The SPI for the combined group registered decrease of 0.69 per cent by declining from 209.74 in the previous week to 208.29 in the week under review. As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for combined group in the week under review witnessed increase of 27.93 percent. The SPI for the groups falling in the income brackets of 3001-5000, 5001-12000 and above 12000 witnessed decrease of 0.38, 0.44 and 0.82 percent respectively over the previous week. During the week under review average prices of 15 items registered decrease, while that of 17 items increase with the remaining 21 items' prices unchanged. The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the week under review included onions, potatoes, petrol, bananas, chicken (farm), red chillies, rice irri-6, rice basmati (broken), vegetable ghee (loose), moong pulse (washed), gram pulse (washed), garlic, egg hen (farm), mash pulse (washed) and mustard oil. The items which registered increase in their prices included, tomatoes, diesel, kerosene, sugar, gur, bath soap (Lifebouy), wheat (average quality) masoor pulse (washed), LPG ( 11 kg cylender), firewood, electricity bulb (60wats), washing soap (Nylon), wheat flour (average quality), beef, milk (fresh), curd and mutton. The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included, bread plain (mid size), milk powdered (Nido), vegetable ghee (tin), cooking oil (tin), salt (powdered), tea (packet), tea (prepared), cooked beef, cooked dal, cigarettes, coarse latha, lawn, voil (printed), shirting, sandal gents (Bata), sandal ladies (Bata), chappal spng (Bata), match box, gas charges (up to 3.3719 MMBTU), electricity charges (1-100 unit) and telephone local call.
