ISLAMABAD -  The Senate Standing Committee on Rules of Procedures and Privileges on Thursday decided to listen PTI Chief Imran Khan in person for clearing his position about remarks against Senators.

It would summon Imran after receiving the privilege motion, signed by 26 Senators. The PTI chief would be given an equal opportunity to give his side of story in this regard, said the Committee.

The Senate body met here under the chairmanship of Senator Col. (Reted) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi and also attended by Senators Abbas Khan Afridi, Islamuddin Shaikh, Haji Mohammad Adeel, Mian Raza Rabbani, Hidyat Ullah, Abdul Rauf, Ch. Mashhadi noted that the Senate body was responsible to defend the dignity and prestige of the House, and said Imran Khan would be answerable for its statement against the Senate members outside the House.

Taking a privilege motion of Senator Muhammad Zahid Khan, the Committee directed the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for hiring technical staff to operationalize the dialysis machines in Timergara Hospital (Lower Dir).

Mashhadi said that funds, spent on purchasing of machines, should not go waste.

Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Shahzad Arbab told the Committee that according to the report of Commissioner Malakand and Deputy Commissioner Lower Dir, there was no MRI machine installed in Timergara Hospital.

As for the dialysis machines, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has sanctioned the posts, in relaxation of ban in this regard, he added.

He said that dialysis machines would be functional within three months.

On another privilege motion moved by the Senator Saleem H. Mandviwalla, the Committee expressed concern over Aviation Division’s false and incorrect reply to Senate regarding the decisions taken by the last PIA Advisor.

The Committee summoned the Secretary, Managing Director PIA and Special Assistant for appearing in next meeting with detailed reply.
