HYDERABAD : Sindh Chamber of Agriculture (SCA) has expressed disappointment over the reduction in the procurement price of cotton by Rs 300.SCA’s General Secretary Zahid Hussain Bhurgari in a press release issued here Saturday complained that the rice traders and mill owners had made a reduction of Rs 300 in the price of 40 kilogram cotton. “With the reduced rate the growers will not be able to even recover the cost of cultivation of the cotton crop,” he said.

Bhurgari said the move had greatly strained the farmers as now they were being paid only Rs 3,100 per 40 kg instead of Rs 3,400 which was the   government fixed rate.

According to him, the millers in Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Badin and Hyderabad districts were not paying the right price for the crop. He urged Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take notice of the matter.
